Ecotherapy and Adventure Therapy

Walk & Talk

Walk & Talk therapy combines traditional talk therapy with physical exercise. This form of therapy allows clients to move their body and have an alternative to sitting face to face. This therapy embraces and challenges the entire person, body and mind. Walk & Talk therapy embraces the healing power of connecting to nature through passive and direct attention combined with naturally produced endorphins in the body to rewire the brain. This therapy creates a stronger connection to the body and mind while releasing stress on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level. Whether your are wanting to get active, itching to get outside of the office, craving the outdoors, in need of fresh air and Vitamin D, or are ready to shake things up, Walk & Talk therapy has numerous health benefits which easily support various talk therapies including CBT, ACT, Narrative, DBT-informed, through an experiential Eco therapy with mindfulness practices.

Walk & Talk therapy welcomes all fitness levels. There are paved, gravel, and dirt paths in the vicinity of the Fort Langley office. If this type of therapy interests you, I invite you to reach out so we can take our first step together.

Therapeutic Hike

If you are more stimulated and engaged when active and prefer to challenge yourself both physically and mentally in an alternative therapy setting, I offer Ecotherapy through outdoor hiking in nature. Ecotherapy is a mindful, experiential therapy that connects counselling with nature to optimize healing with the body, mind, and soul (biopsychosocial approach). This approach adventures into self-discovery through introducing nature as an additional healing agent. Since physical exercise, fresh air, and vitamin D are proven to benefit both your physical and mental health, there are endless benefits of being outdoors connecting to nature. Every session can look different depending on your needs and wishes. Spending time in nature and challenging yourself at the edge (or beyond) your comfort zone can help to reduce Depression and Anxiety, as well as increases self-esteem, confidence and may help you to better understand your identity and life direction. 

 

Prices for outdoor hiking Eco-Therapy sessions vary depending on the length of duration (ex. Ranging from 50 minutes to a few hours) of adventure and additional costs required to for outing. Equipment rentals may be an additional cost.

Eco Overnight Adventure

If you are more stimulated and engaged when active and prefer to challenge yourself both physically and mentally in a non-conventional therapy setting, I offer Ecotherapy and Adventure therapy sessions and excursions. Ecotherapy and Adventure therapy are experiential therapies that promote fuse counselling with nature for holistic healing and growth. This approach encourages you to adventure into self-discovery. Since physical exercise, being in nature, and trying new activities are proven to benefit both your physical and mental health, our sessions are held in the natural outdoors - all weather welcome. Every session can look different depending on your needs and wishes. Individual sessions can incorporate therapy alongside a walk, hike, time in a park or forest, on a mountain or by/on/in the water. Small group sessions (2-6 clients) are more excursion-based and can include day/overnight hikes, camping, snowshoeing, sports, kayaking, and obstacle courses. Spending time in nature and challenging yourself at the end or beyond your comfort zone can help to reduce Depression and Anxiety, as well as increase self-esteem, confidence and may help you to better understand your identity and life direction. I am open to exploring any other environments/settings or activities that you may have in mind to individualize therapy that maximizes your potential healing and growth.
